Addis Ababa launches the country's first one-stop civil registration service at the courthouse

The Addis Ababa City Administration Civil Registration and Residency Service Agency has officially launched its services in Arada and Bole Divisions today, December 9/2017, in accordance with the agreement signed with the Federal Court of First Instance to provide services for registering divorce and adoption decisions made by the court in one center.
The program of the day was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Engineer Wondimu Seta, President of the Federal Court of First Instance, Ato Foad Kiyar, Coordinator of the EMDEA and National ID Project Office, Ato Yodahe Zemikael, and the Director General of the Agency, Ato Yonas Alemayehu.
Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Engineer Wondimu Seta, inaugurated the program at the Arada Division Court, noting that institutional coordination is crucial for improving city services and that various technological options will be implemented soon to make the registration system accessible.
President of the Federal Court of First Instance, Ato Foad Kiyar, said that the coordination will increase the quality of information and service delivery in the court service.
According to the Director General of the agency, Ato Yonas, in addition to divorce and adoption registration services, the single center service will also provide benefit registration at the courts.
The agency is currently providing birth and death registration services at a single center in 104 public and private health institutions in the city, increasing the registration coverage to 65%.
