Death Registration and Certificate

Civil Registration and Residency Services Agency branch office of woreda

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The person who lived with the deceased, the relatives of the deceased by blood or marriage if there is no cohabiting person, the nearest neighbor if these are not available, or anyone who knows about the death of the deceased must register the death of the deceased.
  • If the death occurred in a shared residence, the head of the institution must be approached to register the death.
  • The death will be registered when the evidence provided by the body that investigates whether the person who died due to the accident and the person who was with the accident victim could be found.
  • If the death is recorded as a result of a decision of disappearance of the person, an exact copy of the court decision must be submitted.
  • In case of a death registered after the deadline, certified written evidence of the occurrence of the death must be submitted. The evidence will be provided from the church, mosque, etc.

Reminder

  • The residence ID will not be given by proxy and will not be renewed
  • Ethiopians diasporas and foreign nationals living abroad are not issued residence ID
  • Resident ID will not be issued at any business house.
  • Any resident who has been given a residence ID will be issued a new ID after the expiration of the period of service.
