A panel discussion was held to help make Fida ID accessible.

CRRSA: February 12/2017

The National Identity Office, in collaboration with the Addis Ababa Civil Registration and Residence Service Agency, held a panel discussion with stakeholders to help increase the accessibility of the National Digital Identity (ID).

Ato Ameero Kassa, Director of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) Directorate of the Civil Registration and Residence Service Agency, who participated in the panel discussion, explained that the National Identity Card prevents data fraud by identifying individuals. He explained that by creating a technological connection (system integration) with other institutions, information can be generated from a single database, and fraud can be prevented.

He said that since there is a large community that does not understand the importance of the National Identity Card (ID), and has a wrong understanding, awareness creation work should be done with focus.

Ato Aram, who said that the National ID is a basic identification and will not replace the Addis Ababa Resident ID, explained that the agency's services can be accessed through the ID. However, he explained that it does not provide access to the benefits of urban residency, including the services available through the ID.

The panel discussion was attended by Ato Yodahe Araiyaselassie, the Executive Director of the National ID Project Office, and heads of various institutions and stakeholders. Various questions and comments were raised and answered by the moderators.
